« Mixolydian »

The Mixolydian mode is a major scale with a flatted seventh. This flatted seventh changes the color to give it a major, bluesy feel. It is often used when playing 12-bar blues, major sounding blues, and classic funk music by James Brown and other greats.

To make the Mixolydian mode in any key, flat the seventh degree of the scale.
